Notes - The Oconomowoc Enterprise: Sept 1, 1911
Peter Davy died at his home in Pipersville, Sunday, Aug 27, 1911, age 92 years. Deceased was born in Bath, Ontario, Nov 18, 1819. Mr. Davy and his bride came to Wisconsin in 1844, where they resided until Mrs. Davy's death. Fifteen years ago he married Mrs. Elizabeth Porry and then moved to Pipersville, where he spent the remaining years of his life.
The deceased was one of the first pioneers of the town of Ashippun which at that time was practically a wilderness, and was the Father of the first white child born in the town. Like the majority of the old settlers he came here nearly penniless but deeded from the government eighty Acres of land, hiring the money with interest at 25 per cent. He was the first man to import Galloway cattle west of the Great Lakes and in 1881 went to Glasgow and Edinburg, Scotland, where he purchased additional cattle and Norman horses.
Mr. Davy was a man of sterling character, possessing determination possible of accomplishing things, a strong physical constitution fostered by clean living. A man who though not a college graduate was educated in that he respected and advocated but lived up to. Deceased is survived by his Wife and six children: Bert of Ashippun; George of Santa Barbara, Ca; Annie of Omro; Mary of Hartford; Nell of Wausau; and Jennie of Kansas City, Mo; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon front the home of Bert Davy in Ashippun. Rev. Varney officiating and interment being in the town Cemetery.
