Notes for Louis Fountain:

During the Nineteenth Century, the militia in York county was organized and re-organized several times. The militia became active, however, on two occasions. The first time was during the War of 1812, when they served under General Brock at the capture of Detroit and at Queenston. Few, however, saw action after the capture and burning of the town of York in 1813. The second occasion was the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837. One other child on 1851 census, but can not make it out It is reported on his son John Fountain's death notice that his name is Lewis and he was born in England

Notes for Sarah Ann Lepard:

Hi Sandi Thanks for the info and I can see that I made a math error...Sarah Ann would have had Rose at age 48 not 58. The Salvation Army photo of her daughter is quite neat....she looks very light eyed and fair. Must have been quite the lady. I'm trying to pin point who Sarah Ann's parents were, and suspect she is daughter of John Leopard who died in 1849 (son of the Will writer), but it's a guess going by her birth year, as to her fitting with this family rather than some of their cousins. Perhaps something more will come up. April abellraven( at )telus.net Sent: November 7, 2006 11:52 AM First name is Caryann on 31 March 1901 census States that she was 85 years old at time of Death.
