Notes for Peter Davy: Record of German Flats Reformed Church (1763-1795, 1811-1848, 1896-1899) Peter's baptism is not found in the records of Stone Arabia churches. Bill Barker suggests he was born about 1758. In 1785 Peter sponsored the baptism of Elisabeth, daughter of Conrad Eigenauer and Anna Spohn. On 1790 Herkimer census (1-1-5) near Nicholas Spohn. (ref. Bill Barker) Peter Davy, widower, married Maria Hiller at the Dutch Reformed church, German Flats. Baptismal Baptismal Date: 11 Jan 1795 Father: Henrich Spaan Mother: Margretha Item Number: 2430 Sponsor: Pieter Davi; Maria. Peter Davy was the grandfather of the Davy family historian, Henry Sidney Davy. He says that Peter had 18 children by two wives, Betsy Spohn and Eliza Hillier. H. S. Davy says that Peter did not draw land as a UEL because he remained in the United States a few months over the allotted time, on account of his trying to hold possession of the old Davy homestead there with his father who was then a very old man. (The homestead was taken away by the US government anyway. ) H. S. Davy says that Peter bought and settled on Lot 36, Con 4, Ernestown in 1806 (originally a clergy reserve), but the lot was finally purchased from the Crown by his son John P. Davy on 23 Apr 1856. Prior to that it had been rented by the family.

I have on original copy of the newspaper article stating that they were the longest lived couple in the U. S. done when they were married for 87 years. Myrtle (Myrtie) and Edward N. Davy are buried here and also Claude LaVern Davy and his wife, Edythe Shores Davy are buried here. Where do you live Sandi and how are you related to the Davy family? We do not have a lot of photos but we do have one of Edward and Myrtle that was taken in their older years. Davy, died at the Charlevoix Hospital on Sunday afternoon following an illness of ten days. Myrtie A. Bogert was born in Washtenaw County on March 12, 1874, and as a girl of fifteen moved to Belding. On March 13, 1892, she married Edward N. Davy at Belding and lived there and in Grand Rapids until coming to Boyne City ten years later. In 1914 they came to Charlevoix and have since made their home here. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Macabee Lodge. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Royal, of Miami, Fla., and Claude, of Flint; two daughters, Mrs. Sam King, of Ironton, and Mrs. Wallace Earl, of Detroit; two brothers, Fred, of Anacortes, Wash., and Henry, of Boyne City; one sister, Mrs. Maud Ostheimer, of Flint; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the See Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. W. D. Wood officiating. Interment was at the Brookside Cemetery.
