Timothy Steele, beloved son of Clarence and Reta Steele of Atherley. Loved brother of Terry of Aurora, Karen Bruce and husband Lorne of Guelph. Notes for Shirley Ann Davy:
Shirley died Oct 24 1997 after a short illness. Shirley retired from the Bank of Montreal Aug 22 after more than 30 years service for the Bank. On the following day she complained of stomach problems and was scheduled for exploratory surgery. This was postponed for a few days as it was originally scheduled for the day of her retirement celebration hosted by the Bank of Montreal. Her surgery confirmed that Shirley had a tumor, which was partially removed. The tumor weighed 8 pounds and was confirmed as cancerous. After numerous trips to Toronto she could no longer make the arduous journey and was hospitalized in Orilla, where she remained until her death. Shirley died within 2 months of her retirement and illness and within 2 weeks of the doctor's prediction that she had 30 days to live. During the last 3 weeks in hospital the nurses and staff called her the " Gracious lady". Not once did she complain of anything despite the fact that she was in tremendous pain and had to be fed morphine continuously. On hearing of her doctor's prediction, her family all travelled to Orilla to be with her in her last days. This was a sad time, but Shirley was always coherent and in good spirits and did much to bouy us up. The family was grateful to be able to spend some time with her before she expired and although it is never a good experience we feel and felt it was better to visit her while we could. Shirley died as she lived without complaint and an optimist.
