Mary Jane Ellis is my lineage You have her born 1 September 1853 I have discovered her Birth 1850-08-09 and baptismal 1850-09-13 Kingston City, Midland, parents John and Jane (my great great great grandfather/mother) She married William E. Norman Davey Josiah Woodcock was a witness at the wedding. The other witness I am still trying to make out the name. He and Beatrice were married in 1928. My mother doesn't remember a wedding so believe they eloped. They never had any children. They vacationed a lot in Canada and when Alexander died, Beatrice scattered his ashes in Canada. They lived on Culver Parkway in Rochester, New York. Davy, 80, retired painter and decorator, died Friday at the Charlevoix Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday. He had been in failing health for several months and seriously ill a week. Funeral services were held at the See Funeral Home Monday with the Rev. W. D. Wood officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Born in Ontario, Canada, March 14, 1871, Mr. Davy came to Michigan, USA 75 years ago. Prior to coming here 51 years in 1900 he was married to Myrtie Bogart who died December 24, 1944. He continued to live here until three years ago when he went to Boyne City to make his home. He is survived by his wife, the former Theresa Strange, whom he married in December 1949; two sons, Royal E. of Miami, Fla., and Claude L. of Charlevoix; two daughters, Mrs. Wallace Earl of Royal Oak and Mrs. Sam King of Charlevoix; a brother, John of Tacoma, Wash., a sister, Mrs. Gus Kabel of Evanston, Illinois, USA. ; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. On the Front Page of Charlevoix Courier Wednesday December 27, 1944 LOCAL WOMAN PASSED AWAY SUNDAY Mrs. Myrtie A. Davy, 70, wife of Edward N. Davy, died at the Charlevoix Hospital on Sunday afternoon following an illness of ten days. Myrtie A. Bogert was born in Washtenaw County on March 12, 1874, and as a girl of fifteen moved to Belding. On March 13, 1892, she married Edward N. Davy at Belding and lived there and in Grand Rapids until coming to Boyne City ten years later. In 1914 they came to Charlevoix and have since made their home here. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Macabee Lodge. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Royal, of Miami, Fla., and Claude, of Flint; two daughters, Mrs. Sam King, of Ironton, and Mrs. Wallace Earl, of Detroit; two brothers, Fred, of Anacortes, Wash., and Henry, of Boyne City; one sister, Mrs. Maud Ostheimer, of Flint; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the See Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. W. D. Wood officiating. Interment was at the Brookside Cemetery.

"Hap" Davy, 65, former first ward alderman and retired painter and decorator, died unexpectedly at his home at 414 Prospect Avenue, Thursday. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Winchester Funeral home with the Rev. Harold E. Kohn officiating. burial was in the Brookside Cemetery. Born near Grand Rapids April 24, 1897, Mr. Davy came to Charlevoix county as a child with his parents who lived in Boyne City for a short time before coming to Charlevoix. In 1921 he was married to the former Edythe Shores in Detroit. They had always made their home here. He was a painter and decorator by trade. He served several terms as first ward alderman. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wallace Earl of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Sam King of Phoenix and Charlevoix and one brother, Roy of Miami, Fla.

Schairbaum of the First Congregational Church officiated. Interment was in Brookside Cemetery. Mrs. Davy died Wednesday, April 10, at the Petoskey Nursing Center. Born in Charlevoix October 29, 1897, to Joseph and Abbie Shores, pioneer residents, Edythe Shores was married to Claude L. Davy in Detroit in 1921. They always made their home in Charlevoix. Mr. Davy preceded her in death Aug. 9, 1962. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and a church circle. She is survived by nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial to the First Congregational Church.

My grandmother, Macrina Richard, was the daughter of a man by the name of Prospere Richard. Prospere Richard married a Maude Perry in Canada (we think in New Brunswick). To make a long story short, Prospere was a hot tempered little twerp (Napolean complex probably because he wasn't very tall), and after having a daughter (Macrina) we think Maude up and left him. Prospere remarried two additional times, and had an additional 6 children by the other wives. What I find interesting is that Prospere and Maude married in 1903. Give the marriage a year, a baby comes (my grandmother) and the baby gets to be about two years old, and Maude splits. (The family stories say that Maude left when my grandmother was about two). We give Maude a year or two to get over the bum, and she's ready to get married again. And I see that the Maude Perry in your tree marries an Oliver William Colbeck in 1908 - five years after my Maude married Prospere Richard. I know it's a long-shot, but if there are any additional details you have, please let me know. My contacts in Canada have the Richard family traced back to the 1600's in France, but we are a little fuzzy when it comes to what ever became of Maude. This is complicated by the fact that Macrina's half-siblings never met the woman (she was long gone) and Prospere wouldn't talk about her. Thanks for any help or additional details you can give me. "William was the president of Wilson Packing Company in Jackson, Mich. He also served on the Board of Directors of the National Pickle Packing Association. " Gray draft /1992. He later owned his own pickle factory in Hudson, Mich. H. J. Heinz Pittsburgh, Pa 2/10/1911. Worked for Heinz for 11 years. Also worked for Wilson Packing Company. Then went out on his own. From Stephen Gray Dec. 1,1993 Draft "William attended school up to grade 6. He then worked for an insurance company and then about 1900 (at age 21) applied to work for the H. J. Heinz Company in Pittsburgh. There was a line up of some 200 young men all seeking a job as office boy to Mr. H. J. Heinz himself, and even though near the end of the queue, William was the successful applicant. William rose through the company to be a buyer in Mich., Wisc. and a bit of Illinois. He would travel a circular route through these three states by train stopping at almost every town and village to examine vats of pickles. It took all summer to cover the circuit twice, the second circuit being for a final quality check of the seasons products. He was also a buyer for vegetables for Heinz soups. At this time William lived in Sewickley, Penn. On one of his trips Mr. Wilson, the owner of a competitor's company, offered him a raise from $100 a month to $125 a month, and the position of vice-president. He resigned from H. J. Heinz in Feb. 1911 to be with Wilson Packing Company in Jackson, Mich. William and Marion were married soon after in Apr. 1911 and they moved to Jackson, Mich. After Mr. Wilson died, William started his own business, William H. Knox Company in Hudson, Mich., a company that packed pickles, dill weed and pickling onions. William also served on the board of directors of the National Pickle Packers Association. Marion died on Aug. 26,1961 in Jackson, William died in Jackson on Apr. 3, 1945 and they are buried in Woodland Cemetery, in Jackson. " In 1900 Census he is listed as 20 and living on Thorn Street in Sewickley with his mother Mary R. and sister Jane N. He is listed as a clerk. Can't read place. Gray of Everett Avenue, and William Henry Knox of Jackson, Michigan, USA, son of Mrs. William H. Knox (and the late William H. This is so hard for me to believe since I know how the son tried to get it overturned.
